The Pack Walk Project 2.0

Dogs and People on Wheels

a Fundraising event for Tahanang Walang Hagdanan

December 9, 2012 (Sunday) 1PM to 6PM

Circulo Verde, Quezon City

Bring your bike, rollerblades, skateboard, kickbike (mushing), stroller, scooter, OR WHEELCHAIR for the FIRST EVER Pack Walk with DOGS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES! :D

We, dog lovers, should also recognize and understand the need to fulfill our social responsibility towards our fellowmen. Thus, we invite all wheels enthusiasts to support our fundraising event PACK WALK PROJECT 2.0 “Dogs On Wheels” for the benefit of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan.

Essentially, it’s going to be a dog event where “Dogs and Persons With Disabilities” will be our special guests. The message we want to impart is that physical impairment cannot and should never be made a reason to undermine a dog or person’s capabilities to live normally and even, excellently.

Through the Pack Walk Project 2.0., we hope to:

  1. Gather all wheels enthusiasts in one event to support Dogs and Persons with Disabilities;
  2. Promote Dogs and Persons With Disabilities as productive members of society;
  3. Increase awareness about the rights and developmental programs for PWDs;
  4. Showcase the skills of Dogs and Persons With Disabilities;
  5. Endorse Tahanang Walang Hagdanan’s mobility devices for dogs and humans; and
  6. Raise funds for our beneficiaries.

Activities include:

  1. Talk by a Person with Disability
  2. Talk by Dr. Karlo Gicana with Apple, a dog on wheels
  3. Dog Workshop Part 2 with The Pinoy Dog Whisperer, Lestre Zapanta
  4. Dance number by Tahanang Walang Hagdanan’s ballroom dancers
  5. Pack Walk with dogs and people on wheelchairs; we will also encourage dog owners to bring their bikes, scooters, segways, rollerblades, and skateboards in keeping with the event concept.
Bikers who are also dog owners may attend the dog workshop if they want. They can also watch the demos by Tahanang Walang Hagdanan performers. They can also bring their dogs along. The workshop, talks by guests, and demos will run from 1-5PM.Bikers may also opt to just attend the culminating event which is the pack walk where all the attendees and dogs walk together. Others can bike with their dogs, skateboard with their dogs, and rollerblade with their dogs alongside the “dogs and persons on wheelchairs”. The pack walk will start at 5PM.

Greenhills Bicycle Parking – Little Baguio – Kamias Bike Lanes – Commonwealth Motorcycle Lanes – UP Bike Lanes

With the recent ‘motorcycle lanes” news, don’t you feel a little tricked?

Wow…we’re still waiting for real good news about true pedestrian and bicycle pathways?

Let’s give those not so innocent bystanders and erring motorists an early halloween scare…

Dress up in your favorite goulish, horrific costumes for a fun, sunday morning ride through San Juan and Quezon City.

We’re going to take a short, satirical pictorial at a local cemetery.

We’ll ride via token MMDA Bike Lanes (actually a parking lot now) in Kamias.

We’ll also check out the mighty motorcycle lanes along commonwealth.

To give us a little hope, we’ll end at the wholesome and inspiring UP Bike Lanes.

All tricksters in horror-theme costumes (dress your bikes, too!) get a halloween treat!

Bring candies to give away as treats to traffic enforcers and kids along our route.

We may feel alittle tricked out, but it does not mean we’ll have to lose our composure and goodwill!
