TRB Order: Roof Mounted Bikes Class 1 in NLEX-SCTEX

TRB Rules Roof Mounted Bikes as Class 1 in NLEX & SCTEX

The TRB (Toll Regulatory Board) orders MNTC (Manila North Tollways Corporation), the operator for NLEX & SCTEX, that Class 1 vehicles exceeding 7 feet in height due to roof mounted bikes will be classified as Class 1.

TRB order EOR-L2012-514 was issued last July 25, 2012 and was officially received by MNTC Last July 30, 2012 and the order read as follows:

July 25, 2012

Manila North Tollways Corporation
NLEX Compound, Balintawak
Caloocan City

Attention: Mr. Rodrigo E. Franco

President and Chief Executive Officer

Gentlemen:

Re: Class 1 Vehicles with Top Load / High Load

Please be informed that in the meeting held on 24 July 2012 among TRB and tollway concessionaires and operators, it was agreed that Class 1 vehicles exceeding seven (7) feet in height due to top load of recreational equipment such as bikes, surfboards and the like, which are safely attached to the vehicles and not intended for commercial purposes shall be classiffied as Class 1.

We trust that the foregoing shall be consistently implemented in all the tollways.

Warmest regards.

Very truly yours,

(Signed)
Atty. Edmundo O. Reyes Jr.
Executive Director
Oref: EOR-L2012-514

This is definitely good news to us bikers who have roof-rack-mounted bikes on our vehicles that go up North.

A good tip shared by C! Magazine Editor-in-Chief  James Deakin would be to have a copy of the order on hand just in case the tollway tellers in NLEX or SCTEX still demand that you pay Class 2 fees.

Enjoy your trip up North. But always bear in mind TRB’s slogan… Travel Safe, Ride Safe, Be Safe.

RABONG Tree Planting Activity

Rabong Tree Planting Activity

LET’S GO PLANT A TREE!. This is our first tree planting activity as part of our goal to plant more than 1,000 trees this year in our Province of Abra. The photo above was taken at Cellophil Resources Corporation (CRC) last July 21,2012 by our group (R.A.B.O.N.G) Responsible Abra Bikers On Natures Ground. I hope some other groups consider tree planting as part of mountain biking activity to build and restore our rainforest in the Philippines and to have a sustainable trails in the future.
