  1. Hi looks good!
But I see written for CX 4 laps from 5 km, the lap in drawing tells 3,7 km.
    So whats the correct distance?
Can you also please specify the requirements for executive category for the road race.
I’m 45, can I join the road race and later masters with the CX race?

  2. Ung Race Course sa Downhill OK na. pwede na kaung mag practice. :-)

  3. maning arias says:

give my regards to her. i don’t know if she can still remember me. college was quite some time ago. she’s staying in japan?

with too much rain, off-road tracks might prove too challenging for some of us. maybe we’ll be in toboso tomorrow or the next weekend. maybe we could also bike on the 5th since it is a holiday, and 6th is a weekend.

    • maning arias says:

this morning, it’s old sagay and back. we’re planning to bike to toboso tomorrow. so maybe we’ll see you there.

  4. Yes. I’m Cynthia’s brother. I visited her last week to catch up with her before she would go back to Japan.

I’ll be back in Negros on the 4th of Nov. Right now I’m in Vietnam and will fly back to Manila tomorrow.

  5. I’m still in Chicago but will be in the Philippines by Sunday

    • welcome back to the philippines edgar!

we will try to meet up with you then, probably the 30th. are you by chance edgar murakami, president of toboso society of america? cynthia was a classmate in college (MCC). are you related?

      happy trip!

      • Edgar Murakami says:

Yes. I’m Cynthia’s brother. I visited her last week to catch up with her before she would go back to Japan.

  6. thanks mark!

maybe two or three of our bikers here can withstand the rigors of DSB. so maybe they’ll be joining. i sure would like to be a part but im not that fit. will relay your posts to them.
    thanks a lot.

  7. Maning,
That’s a long ride. I’m not sure that I can last that long but it seems fun.

I don’t know Nestor Canizares but his last name sounds familiar. I do remember a classmate in the elementary with that last name though. I was in Central Danao last January. Our organization here in the US (Toboso Society of America) distributed clothes to the needy.

    • Hi Maning and Edgar!

We’re getting more info about the event later this afternoon. Will update the post once I have it.

      Diin kamo sa subong?

Do check back in a couple of hours ;-)

      Thanks!

  8. our group prefer challenging mountain roads esp when its not too muddy. yeah,i feel the same about roads because of the pollution.
about salamanca? we started in escalante along the highway then nueva estrella then toboso. then we had some refreshments. then went home passing through salamanca. crossed a bamboo bridge to japitan then home by 11am.
we would be glad to meet up with you. ill stay on this channel and wait. its nice to connect with fellow bikers.
by the way, you might happen to know one of the original members is nestor cañizares from central danao.

  9. Last time I was in Toboso (Dec-Jan, 2010), I biked with my nephews in Salamanca via a rough road. We also went to another barrio which had a real steep rocky road. I couldn’t climb that one. But the view at the top was worth it. In our last ride, one of our bikes broke a derailleur and we had to be picked up. I had a good time though. I would do it again.

I don’t like riding in highways with buses and big trucks. I hate dust and the smell of exhaust, aside from being dangerous. Even here I don’t ride on city streets. I guess that’s why I like mountain biking.

I would probably go to Balintawak to play tennis as I always do. I love to meet with your group if we get a chance. What do you think?

  10. maning arias says:

usually we do up to 20km weekends. not much really considering we are just fun riders. and we dont have really nice bikes. we usually start 7am and home by 10am. esp when its too hot. but we could go as far as escalante-stop aguinaldo-dian-ay-sagay. about 5 hours.
and yes there are more serious bikers and much nicer bikes, and they have lots of time considering they are professionals and have the money and time for their passion.

  11. To Maning Arias,
Where do you go mountain biking? Are there nice singletracks around Escalante? I noticed that in Negros people ride on the road with mountain bikes. I saw people ride between Bacolod and San Carlos via Don Salvador with mountain bikes.

Over here in Cicago, I bike at Palos Hills (http://cambr.org/SMF/index.php?PHPSESSID=p5r7nroh7hrerh4igeq45gk6o0&topic=359.msg1313#msg1313). It has over 30 km of nice singletracks.

  12. maning arias says:

i belong to a loose group of bikers in Escalante. about 5 regular bikers. we do our fun rides weekends or holidays when there is no office for us.

  13. I am glad that Negros.had this contest. I leave in Chicago but originally from Toboso.

I’ll be in Toboso until Nov. 12. Too bad I’ll miss it. Can I get in touch with the organizers or any mountain bike group in Negros? I would like to ride during my vacation.

  14. maning arias says:

any more details? registration? when? where?
