Organized by the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME), University of the Philippines Los Baños, the race is an advocacy campaign for the restoration and rehabilitation of typhoon-damaged hiking trails to the mountain’s summit. It also coincides with the 99th year anniversary of Mt. Makiling ’s proclamation as a forest reserve on 21 November 1910.
Each participating team shall be composed of two members and shall fill out and return the registration form (see attached) before 12:01 am of 20 November 2009. Registration fee is Php1,000 per team, inclusive of race kits, souvenir shirts, sponsors’ freebies, lunch, complimentary hotspring baths and your direct contribution for Mt. Makiling ’s projects.
Compulsory equipment to bring: mountain bike per competitor, compass, helmets, first aid kit, bike tools for trouble shooting, hydration systems, cell phones (to contact organizers in case of emergency only).
The following prizes for winning teams are at stake courtesy of our sponsors: First placer Php10,000 cash & medals; Second placer Php6,000 cash & medals; Third placer Php4,000 cash & medals.
