Members of Firefly Brigade, UP Padyak, Tiklop Society met with the LRTA Head honchos. The meeting yielded the following results:
1) Folding bikes (size 16) in LRT 1 & 2 ok’d by Administrator Robles;
2) Folding Bikes Pre-testing schedules in LRT 1 & 2 on October 26;
3) A November Launch Date to officially allow folding bikes into the LRT 1 & 2 Lines;
Great milestone for stepping up the Philippines’ contribution to Climate Change Mitigation
Here’s the schedule of events for November 8, 2009
10am – gathering of folding bikes at Cubao Araneta Station, brief program.
1030-11am Folding bikers ride LRT to Legarda Station
11-1130am – Get down Legarda station and bike to Rizal Park!
Those who want to join on whole bikes you’d have to meet us at the Legarda station and sabay na lang to Rizal Park…. kain Binondo after?

another update…
20″ wheel folding bikes will be allowed. We thought only 16″ was the workable size but when we did the test run a 20″ bike was fine.

Hey Thanks for posting this! Glad to know we can now bring bikes in the trains. I’m based from the Netherlands since 2007 and my folding bike has been my trusty mode of transportation. The trains here can easily fit folding bikes.
I’ll be coming home this summer for a vacation and I’m wondering if there are any reputable bike stores in Manila that sells some brand new folding bikes. I might get one for the duration of my vacation and probably just leave it there when I get back to Netherlands.
